Laboratory CECERBENCH:
Presentation prototype of photovoltaic ceramic tile
During the
recent period of its activity the CECERBENCH Laboratory, in co-operation with involved partners, has developed the prototype of
photovoltaic ceramic tile. The presented 10 x 10 cm prototype was produced by a thin film technique that enabled the creation
of a photovoltaic surface layer replacing the glazing one.
As a structural support a porcelain ceramic tile was used on which the conductive and photosensitive layers were deposited.
The unit photovoltaic cells are connected in series and the photocurrent is afterwards directed toward the tile incorporated
plug-socket device enabling an easy interconnecting with the neighbouring tiles. It is envisaged that through the further R&D
work large size photovoltaic tiles will be developed being appropriate to be used for assembling within building ventilated facade.
Officially, the presentation of photovoltaic ceramic tile prototype will be done at the International Meeting Research to Business
– R2B ( www.rtob.it ) to be held in Bologna, May 3 rd -4th 2007.
Within the Area NewMA (New Materials- Nanotechnologies) the Laboratory CECERBENCH will take a part of the “Cluster Costruzioni” stand,
that will be prepared by the High Technologies Network of Emilia Romagna Region, the association involved in the mutual work on
materials for construction.
During the R2B Meeting the R&D results and industrial perspectives dealing with the photovoltaic ceramic tile will be discussed within:
- Conference “Ready to Market Corner”, May 4th at 3 pm;
- Seminary “Ricerca e Innovazione nel Settore delle Costruzioni” (Research and Innovations
within the Area of Construction) organised by PTIC (Italian Platform of Construction Technologies, ( www.ptic.it )
and in co-operation with the Fair of Bologna, May 3th.
Further information on conference and seminary programmes are available from related Web sites.
